August Clubday
Clubday is this coming Sunday 28 August. We had to make a call last weekend on Friday as there was the risk of still some snow and ice being around on Sunday. There is a bit involved in running a clubday including provisions for the shop, availabilty of the helpers to run the day etc, and this all had to be taken into account as well. Not a decision that was made lightly. Of course the sun shone all weekend after the weeks bad weather. Duty class for this weekend is all Junior drivers and there helpers. Track direction is normal ( clockwise ). Scrutineering from 7.45am, drivers briefing at 8.45am and on the track at 9.00am.
Working Bee
You will have all received the email regarding the working bee for this Saturday 27 Aug. We are wanting to replace the roof on the tech shed, and this will require a small specialised team. Also, we need as many of you as possible to help with removal of the old iron and to do a tidy up where the gorse has been cleared from. The track will be closed for the morning and there will be the chance of some practice in the afternoon. So bring your kart along, help out for a while and then have a run before clubday on Sunday. Remember to please email Phil Davy on vdavy@xtra.co.nz if you are coming so he can sort out who to put where. Thanks.
Clubday Prize Package
We will shortly be sending you some information on a new clubday prize package that has generously been provided by Stu Park of SPARK SERVICES. This prize will be drawn at each clubday prize giving and is open to Kartsport Wellington members. You do not have to be at prize giving to win the prize. The winner wIll receive a voucher & package content info on the day or if not present at prize giving, by post. The package prize includes Kart & Engine Preparation for all classes with time & setup on Sparkkarts Intercomp Kart Scales. Any repairs & setup that carries labour & equipment content would be covered in the package to a value of $250.00.Only special condition will be that each recipient of the Clubday Prize Package will be expected to write & post a brief review of their kart before & after receiving the service. A great prize and a flier will come to you all soon.
Enduro Meeting
Reminder that the TROPHY HOUSE Enduro meeting is being held on our September clubday Sunday 18 September. A flier is attached with more info for you. Senior drivers get your team together now and of course we will be using our new mechanical lane. Thanks must go to our naming sponsor TROPHY HOUSE and class sponsors SPARK SERVICES for Cadet, RACETECH for Junior Restricted, JOHNSONVILLE AUTO SERVICES for Junior, and MIKES GLASS for the seniors. There will be spot prizes on the day and Trophies given out at our annual prize giving.
Kartsport Wellington Annual Prizegiving
Mark your calenders now, the Kartsport Wellington Annual Prize giving will be on Friday 7 October 2011. We will be giving out Trophies for the last years Annual Points, Club Champs and Enduro meetings. There will be a buffet dinner and we are looking at around a 6.30pm start with dinner at 7.00pm. New venue this year will be the Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club.
Finally
Last weekend was Kartsport New Zealands annual conference held in Rotorua. Congratulations to Andrew Donohue who was elected onto the Kartsport New Zealand Executive. Special thanks must also go to committee members Phil Davy and Gary Wilson who attended and represented Kartsport Wellington.
There is now only one Kartport available for lease, so please check before using any on clubdays, that look empty.
Reminder there is no parking of cars or vehicles around the bottom pits area and tech shed. When you arrive on a clubday you can unpack, or park your trailer on your site but please then put you car up in the car park by the club house. Most of the bottom trailer parks are now leased.
The club website is recieving a huge amount of traffic now, and the live track camera is proving a big hit. The website is there for you all to use so send through any photos you may have, classified ads of gear for sale, info on your business for our members page etc.
