July Clubday
Clubday is this coming Sunday 17 July. The track direction is normal ( clockwise ). Senior drivers you have an all in race for The Bill Picard Memorial Trophy. Duty class is all senior drivers and remember you need to be there earlier to help with set up and also tidy up at the end of the day. Being winter we want to have you all out on the track a bit earlier so remember scrutineering is from 7.30am to 8.15am with drivers briefing at 8.45am and first karts out on the track by 9.00am. If you are late you will run off the back of the grid for the day.
Upper Hutt City GP
Reminder of our two day meeting that is coming up over the weekend of 6 and 7 August. Entries are now open and can be downloaded from the club website, www.kartsportwellington.co.nz Our major sponsor for this event is UPPER HUTT CITY COUNCIL and thanks go to them. Class sponsors are drawn from the $100 sponsor tickets that you our members sell. Remeber to go out and sell these now, we have not had too many back yet and the more we sell the more prize money that will be on offer ( over $6,000 last year ). If all of our members sold just 1 ticket that would be over $8,000 in prize money. Also remember the three members who sell the most tickets will get free entry to the event. Copy of the form is attached again for you.
Upcoming Events
For those of you who have not heard, we do have a fairly busy year coming up. Kartsport Wellington will again be hosting the 2011 Superkart Champs at Manfield in January, The CIK Trophy of New Zealand in January and The National Schools meeting in July. These major events are big income earners for the club and the money goes back into improving the facilities for you our members. The works team have a busy year coming up as well as we head towards getting an A rating for our track which will give us the chance to host the Kartsport New Zealand Nationals. Car and trailer parking is what we need to get more of and this is being created on the hill behind the Lascom straight sign. There is a working bee planned for Sunday 31 July. More details soon.
Enduro Meeting
Reminder that our annual Kartsport Wellington TROPHY HOUSE Enduro meeting has been moved to the September clubday ( Sunday 18 September ) so senior drivers start getting those teams together. This is a trophy event. The last round for our TYPEFACE Annual Points is this coming July clubday. We have booked Friday 7 October as our annual prize giving dinner, when we give out trophies for the above events and the BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE Club Champs. More details on that soon.
Track Webcam
Earlier in the week we told you all about the new live webcam at the track courtesy of CONWAY KARTS. What a hit this has been with over 200 hits to the page on the club website in the first few hours. Your chance to keep an eye on weather conditions etc. The link is on the club web page. We are also setting up on the web page a members area where you can promote your business and services to our club members. Details are there on the site so get the info through now. Also over the last few clubdays you will have noticed a photographer out on the track and taking photos in the pits. The photographer is Jordan Moss and you can purchase the images through his website www.vortexphoto.co.nz .
Clubday Helpers
As discussed at the AGM we are currently relying on the same people every clubday to help run the meeting. We need some new people to train so that we have back up and can lighten the work load a bit on our regular helpers so that they dont burn out. Roles include driver registration at the start of the day, lap scoring, machine examiners for scrutineering, tech officer, etc. If you would be intrested please let me know and I will help you on the way.
Finally
I have a couple of senior drivers interested in joining the club and I would like to try and arrange a test drive for them in the lunch hour this coming club day. If a couple of you can help and make your kart available for 10 minutes in the lunch break that would really help us in growing our membership. You will get the $30.00 fee that they pay. Let me know.
AGM was well attended and we got through everything in just under one hour. Thank you.
Kartports. Only two kartports are available now, so please remember you cannot just go and use a kartport with out the permission of the lease holder and checking with me at a clubday. Same with trailer parks, alot of these are leased by our members.
